Considering a G90. Only have an older Mac. Would I be able to update firmware with the Mac. I don't understand the firmware update process. Thanks. Any help appreciated.

    .

Yes, you can use a Mac for flashing the update but in a different way, using the software and instructions from the following link, just remember to flash first the main body and then the display unit or head.
Another thing to remember is after uncompressing the mac utility program, to make it executable, so you can run it using terminal, chmod 755 g90updatefw then run it under sudo ( example in my mac: "sudo g90updatefw main.gfx /dev/tty.usbserial-1130" ). To find the port your Xiegu is using, use flrig program.
You can rename your 2 Xiegu g90 firmware files to something shorter, like main.xgf and disp.xgf .

Thank you for your help. This level of computer skills may be past my ability. My mac is old (and so am I) and cannot upgrade OP system. Do you think I should consider SDR and G90 if I may not be able to interface with computer or would I be better off with say a used 891 or new Alinco at the %500 price point. Thanks
