People are using old tube gear built before world war 2, 80 years old!
I have a Collins 32V3 from the 50's that still works as good as it ever did and it has all the original parts!
No way a modern radio is going to be working 50 to 80 years from now.
My first 7300 worked for a few days.
The 2nd one had the display processor fail in a few weeks, the 3rd one worked until sold...

til the tubes can't be found. Try to find some 8875's....or 8873's... or some old Taylor T300's...
but ya, that big iron sure looks cool till ya have to slide it around the shack....

My solid state class D transmitter sounds really good. 100% mod. .. the bonus... i can pick up the legal limit transmitter with one hand...and it can run on 120V at full output all day long and draws about 10 amps at most...

Till they no longer make the fets.

Any tube can be replaced with another type if you need to.
Not plug and play but sometimes only a socket and/or bias change.

How does that transmitter play on 10 meters?

    Thanks! Move along.

Like I said...literally a day's pay to cover the radio, mic, and speaker. LMAO! Don't have much invested at all. Might be a big investment for you. You seem to want to keep attempting to insult me, because you're butthurt that your radio and mode choices were both called out. It's not working, but hopefully it makes you feel better.

It is for sure not the world's best radio. I never made that claim. If I found the world's best radio, I would not need to keep buying radios. There would be no need.

The only one who is upset here is you, because somebody disagreed with your opinion. What a sad existence you must live. You can cite whatever stats you want. I use actual on-the-air comparisons.

I use plenty of digital too. There just aren't a lot of digital contests out there.

I’m finding my 7610’s work really well on AM too. They sound great. The 7300 was no slouch either. Super dependable radio that “just works”. The icom 7100 is also remarkably clean sounding in AM. With a small solid state amp I see reliable 150W carrier and seems to do the job well. Quite compact compared to a Johnson desk Kw or KW-1

curious - Can your old Ww2 iron run SSB ?
