    Hello oms,
I have the same problem that uploading from HRD V5 to LoTW has not worked for some time.

I suspect that LotW now works strictly according to the ADIF V3 standard and for this reason it no longer works with the
old HRD V5 (still from Simon). HRD V5 has ADIF V2 standard and they are no longer really compatible with each other.

    I have noticed that:
    1. QRZ.com obviously continues to import the ADIF V2 files created by HRD V5 without any problems
    2. QRZ.com in turn exports its ADIF files in V3.0.4 format.

    <PROGRAM VERSION: 3> 2.0

With this knowledge I solved the problem as follows:
    1. I export an ADIF file in the ADIF V2 standard with the new QSOs from the HRD V5 logbook.
    2. I import this ADIF file into my QRZ.com logbook.
    3. From QRZ.com I export the new QSOs in the ADIF V3 standard to LoTW with the button Export and send to LoTW.
The new QSOs are immediately displayed in LoTW.
    4. This procedure has worked without problems so far and hopefully for a long time.

Guys, don't make me the expert on this issue, I'm just following some instructions I found. I actually think it was AE6QE that figured it out. It's still working for me as far as uploading. Downloading, I've never tried as I don't download anything from lotw. For the original upload fix see post #12 from AE6QE in this thread https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/lotw-issues.698802/page-2
I also had some help from PD2D that got me using notepad in admin mode, otherwise you can't save the 'hosts' file correctly.

Of course you can always export the HRD data to another .adi and use TQSL to upload it, but I find it much easier just to select files from HRD and click 'upload to lotw' as long as it works. That way the record is shown as being uploaded in HRD also.

Also, I've heard from an Italian ham that can't get it to work, can anyone help with Italian translations? I think he's tried google translate, but maybe he needs a real Italian speaker?

Uploads work perfectly for me...downloads, not at all. Hit the download button and you get the spinning circle and it goes away then nothing. Been this way since February.....guess im going to have to bite the bullet and just by HRD

Can't you download it right from lotw? I wouldn't buy hrd just for the logbook, just me.

Ok here is the fix without a lot of BS.

Find Notepad in All Programs - Accessories, right click and select Run As Administrator

    In Notepad, click File, Open.

In the file selection dialog change the dropdown next to file name (bottom right) to All Files (*.*)

    Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Select the hosts file (it has no extension)

Place the following below the last line (there is a space between 18 and p1k)
    104.207.196.18 p1k.arrl.org

    Click File, Save

    Upload now works.

Be warned they may change the IP address of lotw.arrl.org at any time. So in case this stops working

Find Command Prompt in All Programs - Accessories.

    Click on it.

Type ping lotw.arrl.org and press enter

The first line returned will contain the IP address that has to be entered in the hosts file. Press Ctrl-C to stop the program from pinging the recipient. (Don't worry about it saying Request Timed Out. It's only the IP address you are interested in which is contained in the first returned line)

Please note that there are other possibly better ways of finding and editing the hosts file. This is simple and it's not that I don't know them ;-)

I provide this especially for all the commenters who said "they told me how to fix it but I'm not telling you!" 73

Where did you find the log file?

AE0A, When you are in HRD logbook, at least in V5, click on 'View' in the toolbar, and under there is 'Logfile'. That's where I found it. But I think it keeps getting replaced as you use the logbook or at least appended.

Hello, I have HRD Logbook V5.24 and installed TQSL in the program directory.
I can manually transfer the QSOs to Lotw by opening TQSL, and signing the .ADI file, but no auto operation with HRD "LOTW Upload" which tells me "failed to sign with TQSL ..."
    Do you have an idea?
