Sorry if this has been answered already but searching turned up nothing.

I have an Icom 706mkII with the hm-103 hand mic.

The microphone barely modulates with the mic gain all the way up, the only way I can get the microphone to modulate properly is to turn the compression on.

Is there an obvious repair or way to troubleshoot this? I would rather replace and element or component than buying a new mic. Pardon my ignorance but I know nothing about microphones. I bought the radio with the mic like this and I don't want it to sound like I'm talking into a tin can all the time.

    Thanks

You may want to measure if it is getting voltage. Try cleaning the connector.

    Good Luck
