Kicking myself for not having discovered this before....

I'm running a 991a, and my main desktop, which is also my CAT controller is running Unbuntu-Linux.

Because Yaesu hasn't come up with a CAT suite like WIN4YEASU to run under LINUX, (grrrr) I've gone with FLRIG/FLDIGI. It's lacking in some areas out of the box, but I'm making alterations in the config to make it work better with the 991. I'm slowly adding control buttons to the thing.

One of the issues I've always had with it is that to use WSJT-X, you had to shut down FLRIG/FLDIGI because as I had installed them, they were mutually exclusive. The both wanted to control the 991 directly. One had to be gone for the other to work. I simply accepted this as the way it is.

    Well, what do you know.....

Turns out that WSJT-X has an option in the set up where you can set your radio type to FLRIG, whereupon WSJT-X acts as a CLIENT to FLRIG.
In this setup, most of the controls for the faux RS232 controls go away, because FLRIG is dealing with those things. But now, I don't have to shut down CAT to run WSJT-X.

    KX4O, W7TCT and KQ9J like this.

By the way.... has anyone taken the time to input the control commands into the extra command buttons?
Has anyone made their FT-991A.prefs available with those commands?

I run N4PY's Pegasus Plus to run my TT Jupiter on my win 10 box.
Everything is installed to run thru PP, you just have to add virtual comports and run the software to PP into the virtual comport.
Once you figure it out, it'd really quite simple.
I have WSJT-X, MMTTY, and Gridtracker all connected to the rig through Pegasus Plus.

I have been too happy with the knobs and buttons on the actual radios to think about connecting a computer also.

I am running EasyDigi and cheap sound card with no name brand USB - 9 pin D connector; that feeds the Data cable into FT-857D. No CAT cable.

    I run Raspberry Pi 3B - linux.

I never got the FLDIGI working - i can receive but tx is not working. Some config may be wrong. PTT engages but no output. Tried everything in the sun including recompiling the code.

However WJTX and JS8CALL - no issues very easy set. Works like a charm.

Wanted to keep computing footprint small and opted for raspberry pi which was laying around.

With 3 remote radios , one on the indoor patio , two upstairs in the radio room; I have been very happy with FLrig from my therapy chair in the living room. What functions are you trying to do ? I run several Raspberry Pi 4 and a win10 box for HRD as well that sits upstairs controlled by VNC now that I can't enjoy more then about 20mins in the radio room due to my Back; yes it is a office egro chair

It prolly wants a seperate driver for each direction. That's how this one's set up

Essentilly, I need the proc control, the tuner control, and the memories, if it can be done.

Been thinking about Win for Yaesu under WINE. I don't run Windows per se.
