    Hello all,

I found this forum while desperately searching through Google search results to try and troubleshoot EchoLink access for my Baofeng UV5R.

Currently, I cannot connect to another node. I am nearby an active node that is also a repeater, I can talk to the repeater, and the node is active on EchoLink software and I have used my PC to connect and I confirmed that I can hear my voice transmissions from my Baofeng UV5R on the PC software side.

However, when I attempt use DTMF to connect to another node it does not go through. I have tried several different nodes (all of them active on the Echolink software, as that is how I plan to confirm I have been connected). I have tried transmitting with Menu Option 16 on Off, DT-ST, ANI-ST, and DT +ANI, but my DTMF tones are never heard by the repeater, and I never connect to another node. This is very strange as I was able to at one point use EchoLink fine, but now I fear I changed another menu option on accident when troubleshooting APRS or something else, and now it no longer works.

I have already tried two factory resets, it did not work. Is there another setting I should change on the Baofeng to get this to work?

Use DT+ANI to hear all tones. Make sure menu 19 PTT ID is off.

Depending on how you have the Baofeng configured you could be sending distorted tones. See https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Baofeng_UV-5R#DTMF.

Ask the repeater operator if anything has changed. Maybe the DTMF access codes were changed.

Test with another radio. Maybe your Baofeng broke.

Yes I have already done updated both of these settings with no luck.

I do not think it is the repeater because I am currently attempting to connect to a Newfoundland repeater, and before in May I was attempting to connect with a Quebec repeater when I and was in Quebec and it was not working (however, it did at one point work with the Quebec repeater).

Do you have anymore info on how to reconfigure the Baofeng to send the correct tones? Unless I'm missing something in that document.

Yes, I am going to try and source another Baofeng or something similar here in Canada (which might be difficult) in order to test with another radio.
