While I listen from various parts of the world, especially in places I can't TX, a vast majority of my SSTV QSO's are on 2M FM. Sometimes simplex, sometimes via a repeater. I have used my computer with SSTV and a Signalink, I've used an app on my phone with audio coupling to an H-t or mobile rig, and I've even used the now antique Kenwood VC-H1 Visual communicator. On FM I haven't followed the HF protocols. We just each send photos and talk about it after we send it. It's actually part of our ARES group training to get images to the EOC if there is problem with cellphone coverage in that particular area.

@W7UUU - Not related to your original question, but there is an updated "port" of MMSSTV that supports OmniRig. I found this version to be much easier to manage with a modern rig. Just be sure to follow the instructions to properly configure English as the language. ;)

I am interested in starting SSTV also. I have two HF Tranceivers, a Yaesu FT 950, and a Hallicrafter FPM 300. I have two AEA devices, a PAKRATT 232 Model PK-232MBX, and a Computer Patch Interface Model CP-1, both which are not operational. I have a Zeneth television and a Sylvania cassette viewer.
    Thoughts?
