While I listen from various parts of the world, especially in places I can't TX, a vast majority of my SSTV QSO's are on 2M FM. Sometimes simplex, sometimes via a repeater. I have used my computer with SSTV and a Signalink, I've used an app on my phone with audio coupling to an H-t or mobile rig, and I've even used the now antique Kenwood VC-H1 Visual communicator. On FM I haven't followed the HF protocols. We just each send photos and talk about it after we send it. It's actually part of our ARES group training to get images to the EOC if there is problem with cellphone coverage in that particular area.

@W7UUU - Not related to your original question, but there is an updated "port" of MMSSTV that supports OmniRig. I found this version to be much easier to manage with a modern rig. Just be sure to follow the instructions to properly configure English as the language. ;)

I am interested in starting SSTV also. I have two HF Tranceivers, a Yaesu FT 950, and a Hallicrafter FPM 300. I have two AEA devices, a PAKRATT 232 Model PK-232MBX, and a Computer Patch Interface Model CP-1, both which are not operational. I have a Zeneth television and a Sylvania cassette viewer.
    Thoughts?

    Late reply, I know ...
As some have seen in the forum, I've just gotten back to sstv. I've never had an sstv QSO, but I finally got CQ, RSV and 73 templates with macros working ...MMSSTV running under wine in Opensuse Linux.
After some help, I got QSSTV transmitting, but I can't figure out how to get templates working.

re: 'PK-232MBX... not operational' ref. www.timewave.com ( the company that purchased a part of what was AEA TNCs ) Timewave(Mfr.TM/R/C/Etc ).
If SSTV is the only part of HF that you are interested in, I have a Robot 800 system collecting dust. It was from an estate, then garage clearance. Manual including schematic is included- yet condition unknown. I could test it, if you are interested. You would not need a scanner to send images already on your PC, yet if you have no personal computer- you would need one as input to the Robot 800. This means RS-232 ( older machine ) or USB ( some newer PCs have no RS-232 serial port ).

I do SSTV for Parks on the air.
I have called CQ SSTV and have gotten some replies. I usually announce on twitter and the POTA Spotter page when I am doing SSTV.

I usually hang out on 21.340 mhz or 14.230 mhz.
I have made a few POTA SSTV contacts including dx contacts.

I hope to one day activate a park using only SSTV.
